DVD is the video standard and this is our target media. The horizontal resolution for DVD is 500 lines which accounts for the crisp detail and vibrant colors versus the 275 lines of horizontal resolution for VHS tapes and 400 lines for Super VHS. Stereo and Dolby Sound have become the sound standard. DVD authoring/mastering is done in house. We also master VHS tapes. Your distribution to both target audiences is covered in every detail. Tapes will not look as good as DVD because resolution is lost when going from 500+ lines to the VHS resolution of 275. Our cameras are Mini-DV which meet and exceed the DVD specification. In addition the utilization of 3CCD camcorders for greater detail of specific coverage from many angles will provide the best mixture for your event. Digital 8 cameras also meet the DVD specification but support for them is waning. The Hi-8, VHS, and SVHS cameras do not meet the specification and are only capable of mono sound quality. This is strictly home movie quality video and sound. Greater Resolution does not equal better home viewing. 750/850 lines (Movie) There are much higher resolutions available however when the DVD is mastered it will be at the DVD standard (500+ lines). Greater Resolution can equal better viewing. 750/850 lines (Movie). The target for this resolution are the screens found in movie theatres. If your target is a movie theatre distribution please contact us so we can recommend reputable production companies and Independent film producers (Indies) that we have had the pleasure of dealing with. If you were to view DVD content on a movie screen you would be very disappointed because of the visible artifacts which would make it look horrible. Taking 500 line media and displaying it on a 750/850 line movie screen does not work. High Definition 750/850 lines (Home Use) will be an emerging standard for home televisions. Right now the content must be programmed specifically to take advantage of this standard and there is very little of it available. The current DVD standard plays very well on High Definition Televisions. At present the industry is gearing up for a new high resolution DVD standard to take advantage of these Televisions. As the standard is finalized expect MediaByCS to meet or exceed that standard.
